New Pyrex

I got a lot of Pyrex for Christmas that i need to take pictures of once we have a nice sunny day. I do have a few pieces that I got before Christmas that I haven't posted yet.

This is one of the coolest Pyrex I have seen. It's a Pyrex Bake A Round. You place the dough inside the glass and the bread bakes inside it.

These dishes say Pyrex France on them. I think they are for baking bread too. That's just my guess.

I love this one. A Pyrex cheese keeper. It has a wood base and handle. Looks like something Wallace and Gromit would use.

Here is an unusual Pyrex casserole. the lid is the entire white section, like a deep dish. I would love to know why it's like that. Maybe so you can eat out of the top?

I have a few more uploaded on my Pyrex flickr set.

  1. The second picture down from the top looks like a casserole/meatloaf dish to me. Or maybe it was just my mom who used to like to make a circular meatloaf.

  2. Those first two are so futuristic! Really neat.

  3. the bread-a-round is amazing!

regarding the last piece, i wonder if it supposed to be used as a doufeu. "older" pyrex is borosilicate, and could withstand the thermal shock of ice.

however, knowing how practical pyrex is, it's probably just so you have two separate pieces -- a deep casserole with a lid that could be used as a separate baking dish.

    either way, WIN WIN!

  8. The second picture down...those are called ring molds. You can use them for jello, or anything. My mom used to make a party dip in it called crab ring (because she made it in the ring mold!). Meatloaf would be pretty cool in it too!

  10. The circular moulds in your second picture ar savarin moulds. They are used to make Baba au Rhum or savarins.
