I think I lose an average of five socks a year. It really is a mystery to me. I thought I would find them all when I moved from my apartment to my house, but no. And I have lost more since.

Thank goodness someone came up with Throx. The perfect Christmas present! Three socks for the price of two! When you lose one, you still have a matching set! Or you could have a sock to go with those single shoes you see laying by the side of the road. How does THAT happen!?

  1. People always think I'm weird but my mom taught me to safety pin my socks together as soon as I take them off, especially if I ever wanted to see them again. It works like a charm and I never have to go hunting for a lost sock!

  2. Whenever I knit baby booties or baby socks as a gift, I always make three, since one will inevitably be lost. Adult feet are too big to do that for though!

  3. Where DO all those socks go, anyway? I've lost not only socks, but also shirts. I've lost 2 or 3 tshirts in the last year, and we've lived three different places (long story) and I've never found any of them! I think little gremlins come and take them, personally. Sock gremlins are the worst.

  4. All over the world, there are people making millions off of ideas that I should've capitalized on. GRR. Ever see those cute little mary jane socks that Trumpette http://www.trumpette.com/store/images/products/2.jpg
makes? Yeah. I thought of that too.

  5. I don't know if this explains every roadside shoe, but when my mom and aunt were little, there was a little incident in which they were fighting in the backseat of the car, and my mom threw her shoe and my aunt, neglecting to notice that the window was rolled down. My grandmother's response? At least she could have thrown both shoes out so that someone could have found a pair. True story.

  6. it helps about half the way - i don't load my socks into the dryer unless i've found it's mate. but they can still get lost during the drying process.

  7. i was thinking the same thing when i saw "pair and a spare" that they have at the used bookstore in fairport. none of them completely match the other ones, but i suppose that's not a bad thing -- you could get two sets that could go with other ones.

  8. I have a sock basket in my laundry room where I put all my single socks. When it is filled to the top, I put all the socks on the floor and play the match game and at least half of the socks become pairs again.

  9. Single shoe loss happened to me last week.
I ran out of the gym to the car with work shoes in hand. Dumped what I thought was everything into the car and sped off. A few days later I could only find one of the pair and one shoe was missing - hunted high hunted low no sign off the shoe.
A nice gentleman came up to me on the weekend in the gym and asked 'did you get your shoe?'. To which I replied 'no - but I have lost one?'. He said he saw me leave in the car with one shoe dangling by the ankle strap to the outside of the door! He presumed I would get it when I opened the door of the car at home. That one shoe by the road side is mine!! I never got it and needless to say I have replaced my beloved shoes!
