Veterans Day & Charcuterie

For Veterans Day we went to the shooting range, one of Aaron's favorite activities.

I made up a charcuterie board... one of my favorite things. I added in a few new items to my repertoire. Here you will see, in addition to the usual meat and cheese, I have cheddar jalapeno peanuts, dark chocolate drizzled popcorn with sea salt, brie with apple butter and cream cheese with a jar of my grandma's homemade pepper jam.

I looked it up and technically charcuterie is just meat, but I enjoy saying it so I like to refer to the entire snack tray as charcuterie. There is a scene in Modern Family where Jay discovers what charcuterie is “That’s charcuterie? I’ve been avoiding that on menus for years. They’re killing themselves with that name!”

I have thought of dedicating myself to the art of charcuterie. Okay maybe not, but I like the looks of these cookbooks on Amazon.
