A little more on my new Twilight addiction. I picked up "New Moon" Thursday night and finished it this morning.
Grabbed "Eclipse" while waiting in line at Wegmans knowing I would need it next.
I've decided we are going to the midnight book party on August 1st to get a copy of "Breaking Dawn".
I had to rush out and get a copy of Entertainment Weekly because Edward and Bella from the upcoming Twilight movie were on the cover.
Can't wait til December 12 when the movie is released.
I gave Twiight to Aaron to read which has been kind of annoying as he is snickering and guffawing his way through. "...his ocher eyes scorching... Bah hah hah!" I have had to threaten to take the book away from him on several occasions.
Here are two thoughts I had. If you haven't read the first two books yet, stop here... spoilers ahead.
#1 Bella is so set on becoming a vampire. But hasn't it occured to her that if she does, some of Edward's attraction to her may be diminished? The scent of her blood that is so appealing to him will be gone once she is a vampire right? I am just guessing here.
#2 More of a rant than a question... she doesn't want to marry Edward? Is she INSANE?! Geez.
Man. I am so addicted.
I had been eyeing these books for awhile, but I didn't know if they'd be my type of reading (the YA thing). I'll have to check them out!
ReplyDeleteThis happened to me last fall. I picked up the first book... and didn't stop until I was done with all three. You totally get sucked in. I even had my husband read them as well.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with it, it's not going any where any time soon. =P
IDK, I haven't read the books *snicker*, but I have a feeling the movie is going to be the biggest turkey ever. Like Showgirls, with less nudity (I think).
ReplyDeleteEither way, go Cedric!
I must say, I do agree, the movie looks like it's going to fall short.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read these, but I have friends who are similiarly obssessed. In fact, they're coming with me to Comic Con (my husband is industry, so we have to go) just to meet Stephanie Meyers and the movie cast. Ha ha ha. I'll send you pictures! :)
ReplyDeleteI know, i know !! What is she thinking??? I just got done reading eclipse and i am so mad at bella. How can she love jacob when she has edward. Edward is so cool about everything. I am so addicted to him as well......I cant wait for breaking dawn !!
ReplyDeleteToo funny... I read these books earlier this year and I'm making my husband read Twilight too! He is being excessive polite and has only snickered once or twice. The books definitely bring out the high school teen in me!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I am in the same boat!! I finished Twilight last night and started on New Moon last night. Suffice to say, I didn't make it to my 6am yoga class today. :p I fear the movie will suck - Edward looks totally crappy. But the actor who plays Bella looks great.
ReplyDeletei actually am mere pages away from finishing "new moon" myself. :) my thoughts on the marriage thing? she's pretty young and i would guess that's part of her decision. not too many people get married straight out of high school.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about this series that sucks us in? I really tried to read slowly and actually savor the story, and still ended up reading all three books in three days. I'm also looking forward to the movie but not holding my breath that it will be great.
ReplyDeleteI have heard a lot about these books in recent weeks/months, and frankly 'cedric diggory' is a major draw card for me.
ReplyDeleteBut what you've said about the books really makes me want to read them! I love vampire books! I think I will see if my local library has any of them.
You know, I really like the books, but I don't know why I keep reading them. There is something missing in the plot development and pacing. They read like young adult books that aren't quite stimulating enough, and yet I can't stop reading them. I just don't get. Sigh. If only they weren't so incredibly annonying AND addicting.
ReplyDeleteI've read all the books a few times. Bella does address her concern about Edward "not wanting her as much" when she becomes a vampire. He, as expected, professes his love for her and says something like when she is a vampire they wont have to be as "careful" as she wont get hurt as easily as a human. Phew.
ReplyDeleteWhat book party are you going to?
I don't know anyone else in the Rochester area who reads these books :(
I was thinking about going to the one at the Webster Barnes and Noble.
Kim - I am going to the one at Pittsford Barnes & Noble I think. I am trying to get all my friends to read the books so they will want to go too. Maybe I will see you there!
ReplyDeleteRosie-
ReplyDeleteIf you like Vampire books please try the Cirque Du Freak series by Darren Shan.
Ah I decided against the Pittsford one because of the amount of tweens that live in that area. I think I have a better chance of not facing a huge crowd at the Webster one.
ReplyDeleteI hope I'm not the oldest person there!
On your Twilight comments about Bella's blood and will Edward still find her appealing...I believe that there is something special about Bella's blood. This will be *her* special skill. She can't STAND blood and in the 2nd book, she's kind of immune to everyone's powers over her. I think it's her blood. And maybe once Edward turns her, the blood will still be the same? (I'm stretching I know) Welcome to Twilight Obsessive-ville!!!
ReplyDeleteI've stayed away from them so far but I know it's just a matter or time. They got me now that I saw Cedric Diggory.
ReplyDeleteTwilight equivalent to crack as far as books are concerned.
ReplyDeleteThe post-Harry Potter-YA genera has exploded with fantasy/romance books. And the movies are quick to follow too.
As someone said there something missing with plot and pacing. They aren't fabulous works of literature. Nonetheless they are ridiculously addicting. Probably because Edward is "the perfect man".
I enjoyed The Host a lot though. It's different. Pick that up when you're done devouring the Twilight Saga.
I started reading this series already knowing who will be playing bella and edward, so i think that helped me love the characters in the book even more , because i love kristen stewart and robert pattinson. So I am so excited about the movie, and i haven't seen one bad movie preview yet. I dont think the movie is going to suck. I couldnt imagine anyone else playing bella or edward !!!
ReplyDeleteWhew...I thought I was the only adult addicted to these books. I feel much much better. Can't wait for Breaking Dawn to arrive. Only reason I am looking forward to August.
