I have so many blogs I like to read, I had to switch over to a RSS reader. I even have a few of them blog rolled on my Links Page now.
Reading everyone's blog through an RSS reader made me realize that I don't see their actual web pages any more and may be missing things in their side panels. That is where I list the latest things I am up to. Inspired by NotMartha, I will do a post when i update that info, so RSS readers will pick up on it, and I will have a history of what I have been doing.
Reading...
Love in the Time of Cholera... I bought this book in a used book store in 2001 after seeing the movie Serendipity. Then I didn't read it. Last spring I spotted it on my shelf and decided I would finally read it. Suddenly I started seeing the book everywhere. Turns out they made it into a movie.
Watching...
Past episodes of Pushing Daisies... I am so enamoured with this show, and am now distressed that the writers' strike has brought it to a halt. I watch the nine episodes that aired over and over.
Listening...
The Weepies... I hunted down the music to the JCPenney and Old Navy holiday commercials and it led me to "All That I Want" and "Stars" by the Weepies.
Eating...
Korean Pears... we got a box in DC when we went to visit my mom's family for the holidays. They are a magic combination of a pear and an apple. Yum.
Busy...
Getting ready to head to Vegas for CES.
Wanting...
Elbow length gloves... to wear with my three quarter sleeve coats... (they are on sale at JCrew for $7.99!!!)
The other bad thing about reading blogs to RSS feeds is that you don't notice when someone redesigns their site. I still read most of mine through RSS, but for the ones that look nice, like LJC, I just visit the actual page.
ReplyDeleteI never thought of the side-bar issue. I might have to copy you and update with a post whenever I update my side bar too. I hope you don't mind.
I loved the first episode of Pushing Daisies, but after watching the next episodes, I became annoyed. The cute, quirky things I loved about the first episode became "trying too hard to be different" and annoying later.
If you're looking for yet *another* blog to add to your reading list, you've got to check out http://dailycoyote.blogspot.com. As an animal lover, I think you'll appreciate it! I discovered it recently and am hooked.
ReplyDeleteI visit your actual page rather than using RSS as you redesign the site and update the sidebar a lot.
ReplyDeleteDo you list your books on a website such as Booktagger? I know you read a lot and have a bookclub?
Thanks for posting pictures of your Christmas decorations lately too, they were gorgeous. I didn't have many this year as moved just before Christmas, so was loving everyone elses!
I, too, bought "Love in the Time of Cholera" after seeing Serendipity! It's a great read.
ReplyDeleteI love The Weepies too! I first discovered them on AmieStreet.
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend their song "World Spins Madly On".
I love The Weepies and I was excited to hear them on those commercials! Can't wait for the new album, but I think I'll go buy the Live EP album to entertain me while I wait. If you haven't read it, the story on their website about how they met is super cute.
ReplyDeleteEver since I switched over to Google Reader to keep up with my websites I've had trouble with this too. I love seeing how sites are designed so I will try to click on the site about once a month or so.
ReplyDeleteI really like this idea for updating the sidebars! Plus it would be neat to be able to look back in the archives.
Oh my gosh - I had some Korean Pears over the holidays and they were so tasty! Totally tasting like Pears and Apples like you said.
ReplyDeleteHubby got two boxes as gifts from the sweetest lady that he works with (she looks like the cutesty granny ever!) like the one you have pictured and we have yet to eat them all.
Happy Holidays!
Stopped by the Kodak booth to say hello but missed you today. I think the new point-and-shoot cameras are very cool though :)
ReplyDeleteFinally de-lurking to say I had the same problem too with using an RSS reader. I'd also find myself 'discovering' new blogs only to find out I was already subscribed to but maybe a little bit behind on reading. I wasn't recognizing the website so now I open each post in a new tab, it's worked well so far.
ReplyDeleteI've only seen a few episodes of Pushing Daisies but I've loved it so far! I knew you could watch them online but never felt motivated enough until you mentioned it... I watched Dummy yesterday but I noticed there are only 2 episodes available- how can I watch the rest!?
Anyway- I love your site! I thought of you last night actually- I was going through my Grandma's old Lipton Tea figurine collection and found a cute little deer :)
