The whole weekend I kept seeing these funny duck tour boats. I just knew I had to ride in one. So this morning we boarded a green duck called the Charlie River and waddled around Boston.
I was completely fascinated by the way we were able to slide into the Charles River, boat around and then drive right back out onto the road. The entire experience was made all the richer from our duck lip whistles... quack quack.
HOORAY FOR DUCKMOBILES! I was a tourguide on the Cape Cod ones...they're a lot less historic and much more silly...and we had separate guides/drivers because of the boat traffic and coast guard regulations.
ReplyDeletebut seriously, regardless of how much you learn, they are always FUN and always the cheapest boat ride in any city! they have them all over-- in missouri, new york, georgia, alaska, somewhere in the carribbean...i could go on for hours.
Funny - my husband and I live in Southie, and I mentioned to him you would be in town (I'm a regular reader - NOT a stalker!) We were in town that Sunday and we make it a habit to quack at the duck boats as they pass. So...I maaaay have quacked at you. Nothing personal!
ReplyDeletewe have those here in halifax, but they are called "the harbour hopper". i always say it with a baws-ton accent, though ... the har-ba hop-pa. :) i haven't been on the tour, but have heard that it is, um, liberal in it's telling of the city's history ... sounds like it's the same all over!
ReplyDeleteI love the Boston duck tours. I took my dad on one when we visited. He was quacking at the Ducks whenever they passed for the rest of the visit.
