sigg

When we went to see Guster, they made a point of showing that they no longer drank from plastic bottles, but they all used recyclable aluminum water bottles. I meant to look into them but forgot about it until I saw these Sigg bottles at Wegmans.

I have read things about plastic water bottles like they are made from PET (petroleum based plastic) and only 14% of them end up being recycled. Of the ones that are recycled they are just reduced to a lower level plastic that is then not recycled. 30 million PET water bottles go into US landfills EVERYDAY.

Reusable water bottles sense. Especially the fact that bottled water isn't any different than tap water. Why pay for it?

I used to have a Nalgene bottle at work... but someone TOOK it! Yuck! Who does that? Well, it is gone now and I am looking at these cool Sigg bottles. I had a few questions like, is the aluminum harmful? The website fact page says that the bottles have liners that ensure 0% leaching.

Now I just have to decide what design I want.

  1. I am so excited to see those Sigg bottles. I got one when I was in Germany 10 years ago. But I accidentally froze it with too much water and it broke the bottle. Coolest part, is that you can put carbonated beverages in it!

  3. I have one and really like it. Because aluminum is such a quick heat conductor, though, the bottle instantly feels as freezing cold or boiling hot as the water you put inside, so be careful!

  4. What a coincidence. I was just researching these as well. I think I may go for the pirate one.

  6. We've been using SIGG bottles for years - first we bought them for our kids' drinks to avoid plastic and then bought some adults ones for us too. The hardest decision is always the design. Every time they come out with new ones, I want them too!

One tip is to check the kind of top you want. I use a screw top, but my kids' have a sports top, however there is now a second sports top where you have to push in a little with your mouth and then suck. A friend said it was too complicated for her. Just fyi.

  10. the aluminum bottles look cute, but i am absolutely in love with my CamelBak water bottle. it has a Nalgene-like body with a bite valve top and a straw that allows you to sip without having to unscrew the lid or even tip the bottle. absolutely GREAT!

  12. They are awesome bottles but you have to be careful with them, they dent pretty easily. I have this one.
