Have you ever had a Kool-Aid Pickle? I haven't, but apparently they are gaining in popularity in down south.
All you have to do is “... pull the pickles from the jar, cut them in halves, make double-strength Kool-Aid, add a pound of sugar, shake and let it sit — best in the refrigerator — for about a week."
I must say I am intrigued. This joins the ranks of such food oddities as turducken, deep fried oreos and oh hey... deep fried pickles. What is it about pickles that make people want to take them to the next level? What about ice tea pickles? Coca Cola pickles... oooooh!
I now have a new goal in life.
ReplyDelete* Make and consume Kool-Aid pickles.
Also, hi! I love your blog but never comment. =)
That sounds disgusting, however I do enjoy deep fried pickles...
ReplyDeleteOk, I've never heard of or eaten a kool aid pickle, but you MUST try fried pickles- SO GOOD! I don't normally like dill pickles but fried- yum!
ReplyDeleteI bet the coca cola would eat right through a pickle!
ReplyDeleteDeep fried pickles are great. Koolaid pickle not sure about that. My husband like to take one of the big pickles bite off the end and stick a hard jolly rancher candy in it. Eww.
ReplyDeleteI was in a restaurant in Maryland this past weekend that offered deep fried pickles with honey mustard. I love pickles and almost ordered these but I chickened out. Next time.
ReplyDeleteYou know a Turducken and deep fried oreo doesn't sound as odd as doing stuff to pickles. LOL.
ReplyDeleteSounds disturbing, but I love pickles and if offered, I would probably try it once. I orginially thought fried pickles would be gross but they are yummy!
ReplyDeletenote: makes pregnant women ill just reading about it.
ReplyDeleteI had deep fried pickles with ranch dressing in Texas last year. We thought it sounded completely disgusting, but we had a coupon from the hotel for a free appetizer, so we gave it a try. They were awesome! We ended up ordering another basket!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen those in NC. This must be something specific to the deep south. :)
ReplyDeleteTwo pickled oddities that I have seen, though: pickled eggs and pickled pig's feet. The eggs become bright pink from the pickling solution! I have not been brave enough to try either.
Carrie, I have actually had pickled eggs... they have them in central PA... they are pickled in beet juice. Not bad.
ReplyDeleteOk I love deep friend oreos and have planned on trying deep fried pickles. I'm not sure about kool-aid pickles though. It sounds a bit iffy.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of koolaid pickles but I do love me some deep fried pickles!!
ReplyDeletethat is the nastiest thing i have ever heard. I hate pickles anyway, this just takes the cake.
