I spotted these Flat Earth Baked Veggie Chips at Wegmans in the snack aisle and was wondering why they weren't in the natural food section. They looked so wholesome.... then I was suspicous because I had read about companies putting farms and cows on their packaging to "look healthy".

After reading the back I discovered they are made by Frito Lay but they do seem relatively healthy.... no artifical flavors or preservatives, no trans fat, 1/2 serving of real veggies in every ounce.

Always game for something new, I got the Farmland Cheddar. They were very tasty! They also have Garlic & Herb Field, Tangy Tomato Ranch, Wild Berry Patch, Apple Cinnamon Grove and Peach Mango Paradise flavors. I thought berry and peach chips sounded strange but I have heard people say they love them.

It's so hard to tell these days what is good to eat and what isn't. I even read something about my beloved Annie's Mac and Cheese!

This article from the Onion is pretty funny though.

  2. They do look tasty! I read that same article -- I still love "the blue box" mac and cheese, and the article made me feel less guilty about it, but it made me resolve to make homemade more often.

  3. When I was little, a man my parents knew drove a huge Frito Lay truck. He was my hero. Occasionally, he would share some snacks with us kids, but I suspect he kept the good stuff for his family because all we ever got were the plain Lays potato chips, you know, the ones in the yellow bag. Not even Ruffles! That onion article is hilarious.

  4. We bought the Mango Peach ones, and they were terrible (imho). Far too sweet! I really do hope the other flavors are better, because it does appear to be a relatively healthy product.

  5. my husband came home from the grocery yesterday with a bag of these! (the cheddar). I was like "ooooh! ljc just talked about these - oh boy!!". He was surprised when I told him about the frito-lay connection. They WERE quite tasty but too easy to eat, I could have eaten the whole bag with no problem (I hadn't had lunch) and that would have been over 700 cals so I had to stop myself. It seemed like I just had 3 handfulls or so, then the bag was half gone!

  6. I had the same problem with the Berry variety--they were gone in no time. I'm not usually a chip eater, but they were so tasty...and true to the Frito Lay motto, I could NOT eat just one!
