Part of Aaron's job is to do special events and today I got to go to one. Today, Ming Tsai came to Pittsford Wegmans to demonstrate a few of his recipes and sign books. We also got to taste the recipes... yum!
Ming has three cooking shows, three cookbooks and a restaurant in Boston called Blue Ginger. I especially like the show "Ming's Quest" because he goes to out of the way spots to get ingredients for his dishes and then cooks it on location. He is funny on the show but he is even funnier and more engaging in person.
Ming always uses Kyrocera Knives and TruBamboo cutting boards. I was tempted to buy one of each for him to sign along with the books.
(By the way... Aaron and I did not plan on being matchy matchy)
Oh, I love Ming. We ate at Blue Ginger on my birthday about 7 years ago and he was working about 5 feet away from me. When I finally got the courage to ask for a picture he was gone.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see that Ming eats his own cooking. :)
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE the Kyrocera knives. We have 4 of them in different sizes and they are fab for cutting raw fruits and veggies. We usually give one as a wedding gift. Unfortunately they can chip if not taken care of (my mother-in-law used hers to pry open a can and took a chunk out of the tip).
ReplyDeleteThat Ming sure is a hottie...yumm!
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who works at Blue Ginger and says Ming is just as he seems, a nice guy.
ReplyDeleteI am big fan after today. He was so funny and... yes... hot! And the shrimp toast was DELISH!
ReplyDeleteOK this is so not fair! First Martha & now Ming? (who is totally foxy by the way) You gotta start sharing the celeb love!
ReplyDeleteKyocera knives, rock! I got mine in Japan and shipped them over. You know, I didn't want to go through airport security with them. Not wise.
ReplyDeleteMatchy matchy is right!! That is the first thing I noticed.LOL!! I thought to myself, so, is this the new style, for couples to match! Thank goodness you cleared that up in the end, because I don't think that my hubby would go for that!
ReplyDeleteI literally ran into him at Blue Ginger, on the way to the bathroom of all places. I almost knocked him over, rushing to get to the loo. He was a gentleman and had a great sense of humor about it.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised at how short he is. I guess to me everyone looks six feet tall on teevee!
I'm not much of a cooking show fan but had to pause when I saw part of "Simply Ming." HE is so yummy I had to find out who he is - bigger (more famous) than I thought. But I haven't caught another episode since.
ReplyDeleteFirst Martha, now Ming? So not fair!
ReplyDelete:)
I'm so jealous! I've eaten at Blue Ginger and the food was de-lish! He also puts his name on a line of frozen stir fry dishes which are pretty good (Target stores with freezer sections have 'em).
ReplyDeletei was going to ask u about matchy matchy !! how funny! glad u enjoyed! sounds so fun!
