I have a cat and I have never seen her do this sort of move! She does it on her side but never right on her belly! That is so funny!! Now, my dogs, they do this all the time...
One of my cats does this all the time! That's her normal position, other than the one we call the 'Zuzu stance', which is when she sits all lopsided-like. Cats are odd.
I have had cats all my life and my cats have never done this, but interestingly my rabbit did. He would always get really close to the sliding door and assume the pose to cool off after a series of sprints around the apartment.
All three of our cats do this, especially when it starts getting warm. No worries, it's normal!
ReplyDeleteHow cute, all stretched out!
ReplyDeleteHow funny that his tail is hooked to the left in each pic! Our dogs used to lie this way when they were pups.
ReplyDeleteOnly one of my cats does this and he only does it when it's really hot.
ReplyDeleteIt's one of my most favorite cat positions.
I have the same rug from Target! I found it marked down to $5 last year. $5 !!! I couldn't believe my luck.
ReplyDeleteOur cat does this too.
ReplyDeletemy kitty smilla does this too and it cracks me up every time. cats are quirky!
ReplyDeleteI thought my cat had weird ways to lie down, but this is even weirder! perhaps she doesn't do it because it never gets really warm where I live!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen this yet. My cats tend to tip this over, same position but on their side, often with tail lifted to cool the bum, tool.
ReplyDeleteKitties are amazing. He's just stretching. My parents cat and both my brothers stretch like that. Sniff I have allergies and can't have kitties. Darn!
ReplyDeleteI call it the "roadkill pose".

ReplyDeleteThat is so funny...I have two cats and they both do this when the weather gets too hot. They like the feeling of the cold floor on their belly.
ReplyDeleteDoes Oscar do the same thing...maybe it was a learned trait...lol.
i have a coffee cup that has the same design as your rug!

I have two cats but only one of them really sits like that from time to time. It cracks me up when she does that.
ReplyDeleteZoe does this too. She also stands on all fours and stretches each leg individually, sort of like a ballerina.
ReplyDeleteIts awful cute.
My gerbil does this too - on warm days.
ReplyDeleteHe's just doing his downward-facing kitty. ;)
ReplyDeleteI have had cats all my life and my cats have never done this, but interestingly my rabbit did. He would always get really close to the sliding door and assume the pose to cool off after a series of sprints around the apartment.
ReplyDeleteRaising my hand... we ALSO have the same rug! LOL
ReplyDeleteYes, our kitty does that too. I swear he is nearly twice his normal length when he's all stretched.
Too funny! My cat, all 22 pounds of her, does this as well. It cracks me up!
ReplyDeleteRaise your hand if you think Foodiechickie's brothers must be very limber.
ReplyDelete"My parents cat and both my brothers stretch like that."
Hee.
My cat Stanley does this as well. I think he's doing his impression of a seal. Like Mamegoma... (:
