Three years ago I got a new snowboard. The next year I got snowshoes. This year for Christmas, Aaron got me these excellent recreational skates... (so much more comfy than my old regular figure skates).

Now it is January and it is supposed to be 57 degrees today. I can practically feel the polar ice caps melting. All my winter sporting gear is laying in the spare room unused. We have a February trip planned to Ottawa to go skating on the canal during the Winterlude Festival. Right now the Rideau Canal is closed... it is probably a big slushy mess.

At this point, I think if we bought a snowblower we will have sealed the global warming fate.

  1. Well! That's the explanation, the purchase of snow related equipment by YOU!!

The Bush Administration will be pleased to point the finger at you, rather than Global Warming, which they know is just make believe.

See, they were right in snubbing the Kyoto Protocol, since it's all your fault.

  3. Ottawa! That's my home town. I used to live beside the canal and skate to work in the winter and ride my bike in the summer. Aaah those were the days. Now I live in sunny California and most people I meet have never heard of little ol' Ottawa. Enjoy your trip.

  4. I hope it freezes up in time. I just visited Ottawa for the first time this fall, pretty pretty place.

  7. Those are some seriously cool looking skates. What brand are they? My husband has offered to buy me ice skates for my birthday but I'm not fond of the look of normal white figure skates. I would love to get a pair like you posted!

  9. I bought a snow blower at the end of last winter. Just for the sake of using it, I brought it out once this year when we had something like 2" of snow overnight. I don't know whether to be happy or mad.
