My current food obsession is Clementine Oranges. Particularly the Darling brand that Wegmans carries. I like the box they come in. Apparently others find the box appealing too, because the website features "Crates: creative uses". The website also has recipes for the oranges like Clementine flan.
I just love the taste and how easy they are to peel. I set mine on my desk and it stares at me all morning. I try to hold out as long as I can.
Jillian eats up to 10 at once if I let her. They are wonderful! -- Cindy
ReplyDeleteToo funny that you bring ONE to work. I just bring six with me. (And have usually eaten them all by lunch.) It's fruit, so its good for you, right? :)
ReplyDeleteHa--I was going to comment on the ONE thing too. But I only bring three to work with me! They're my breakfast.
ReplyDeleteI just bought another crate of them at Wegmans last night.
I love them, too. Beware of the ones grown in the US, though - I bought a box of Tropicana Clems, and under the top layer were moldy or rotten ones!
ReplyDeleteHa! I love clementines! And they always come in the cutest packaging! I took a pic of mine a while back:

I LOVE them too. I take 2 to work each day and usually have another for a snack at night. I'd eat more but I want them to last...especially because I refuse to pay more than $5.99/crate. Luckily they've been on sale at Whole Foods lately. To make sure I don't get moldy ones I rummage through the whole crate before I buy them - hmmm am I allowed to do that?
ReplyDeleteOh how funny! I guess they like to name Clementines with sweet little names. The ones I get here in California come in that exact same type of box, but they're called "Cuties".

Do you like the clementime smell too? L'Occitane makes the yummiest clementime scented candle. It's pricy, but I've found I can't live without it! Funny though - I've never eaten a clementine! Now I'm inspired to go get some and have my first!
ReplyDeleteLove them too and I know what you mean about holding out. LOL.
ReplyDeleteJ too is obsessed. I like them, but don't feel quite that pull. I did find something it one my recently read old magazines that listed a clementine perfume - was going to check it out...
ReplyDeleteI have two clementine crates, and I'm going to paint one of them and make a flower arrangement for our guest bathroom [it's a botanical theme]. I plan to tie ribbon around it to make it look really nice. And the other one? Hmm ... maybe paint it and use it as a gift basket somehow?
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I have been eating these obsessively, we are on our 3rd box in 2 weeks! I am having one right now at work! Out here in California they are called "Cuties".
ReplyDeleteI like them because they aren't so juicy they squirt all over the place when you eat them. I have to bring two or more a day or else the last ones gets mouldy before I get around to them =S
ReplyDeleteI tried to hold out on eating them for just 2 days, because they are so cute! However, I then found that they turned soft squishy soft fast, and the taste went bad. The other girls in the office held out on theirs, and found theirs to be moldy within 2 days.
ReplyDeleteThey are adorable, but don't miss out on how good they taste, but holding out very long!
I only get bummed out when they have seeds since they're NOT supposed to! ICK! I get the Darling crates from Whole Foods too and use them to organize my garage.
ReplyDeleteoh i LOVE clementines too!! i can eat like 10 in a sitting if you let me! hahaha
ReplyDeleteI've been reading for a while but the clementies brought me out... I'd been looking for something healthy to snack on and after reading all of this I went out and bought a box of clemetines. I was intending to share with the girls at work but I'm not sure they're gonna last that long :) thank you! :) - nikki
ReplyDeleteI am painting the crates white and gluing peg-style clothespins around the sides to use as a flower planter. Do not use the spring type clothespins as the peg-style look like a fence when glued on. I own a small daycare and we are using this as a mothers day project/gift this year.
