I just managed to ween myself down to three magazine subscriptions, when I spotted the all new Weekend at Wegmans. It is for people who work all week and are living for the weekends. What is it about these magazines that suck me in? It looked so good.
"Weekend magazine is divided into two sections. The first, "Weekend at Home," focuses on shopping, cooking, easy weekend projects, technology, organizing and learning to do new things.
"Weekend Away," as the other section is called, has stories on getaways nationwide, day trips, road trips, three-day adventures, fashion and real estate. "
Ahhh the weekend.
THREE magazine subscriptions? What was the criteria you used for which to keep and which to get rid of? I'm currently at 11 and there are still magazines I like to buy when I see them.
ReplyDeleteHey! I just bought that magazine today*:) Neato!
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of the newer Body & Soul published those who publish MSL.
Wonder if? I dunno, and sorry if I repeat, but I haven't buckled down to read it good, yet.
Okay, I'm dork, never mind my post above.
ReplyDeletewho puts out this magazine? It be interested in seeing what their website looks like. Otherwise, I'll check it out next time I'm at the store.
ReplyDeleteI currently get Martha Stewart Living, Cottage Living and Shape. I got suckered into Shape by a school kid and am stuck with it for two years. I used to get Real Living and Lucky too, but they started to repeat themselves after the first couple years. I am probably done with Cottage Living after a year too... probably will switch over to Weekend.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed Cottage Living when it first came out but the last few issues have been so-so. This new magazine looks promising. I am such a sucker for a new magazine.
ReplyDeleteGreat another magazine to get addicted too.
ReplyDeleteI'm at 15 magazine subscriptions and I still sometimes buy magazines off the rack... yes, I am addicted to magazines!
ReplyDeleteI received an email inviting me to subscribe to Weekend (from Shop Etc.) but wanted to see the first issue before deciding. I'll have to go hunt for it this weekend!
I saw this today at the drugstore and had to peel myself away from the rack - I think I will have to go check it out later today. Just in time for the weekend...
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a neat magazine. I get two magazines ... Everyday Food and Ready Made. I generally buy MS Kids at the news stand too. I LOVE that magazine. I'm going to subscribe now that they are offering that option. I love Wired too. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI've done some work for the launch issue of Weekend, so I know the labor of love that went into creating it. I'm curious to see how it keeps itself fresh -- like Real Simple, which has come to be kind of a template. It's by Hearst, which also does Shop Etc. and many, many other mags.
ReplyDeleteI indulged in it today as well. Along with my fave "Real Simple". Like yourself, I am a magazine junky too. :)
ReplyDeleteljc: Shape will repeat itself, too. I got a free 3-year subscription from my gym; I discovered that in addition to having the exact same sorts of workouts every month, it reuses a ton of photographs. I suppose it's inevitable, but it got really old.
ReplyDeleteI hope that Weekend's interesting format holds--Real Simple was so awesome in its first few issues, and then it devolved.
Weekends is a new mag from Hearst Publishing, makers of MSL, Real Simple and a few other top-shelf women's magazines. Can I buy a copy online?
