Fiz was the staple at the neighborhood clam bakes when I was growing up. The Neighborhood Association (it's so late 1970's/early 80's) would rent out a cabin at Hamlin Beach, steam clams, and cook steaks on the grill in mid to late September. Fiz soda was always on hand for the kids. Beer and coffee were there for the adults.
Does anyone remeber the Beli-Deli in Spencerport? My dad owned and ran the store in the early 70's. We sold alot of Fiz. Still a favorite of mine. Wish I still lived in the area.
Our fiz pop shoppe was somewhere downtown. We'd drive through. Mom would return the empties, then load a case of utica club cream ale for her and dad, and we kids could mix up a case of Fiz. Cola, ginger ale, orange, and grapefruit soda were our standards.

ReplyDeleteI grew up in Albion NY and we had a store called "The PoP ShoP" and that's all they sold was FIZ. They would even deliver cases to your house.
