Aaron and I are going through London food withdrawl. I got really excited when I found scone mix and clotted cream at Wegmans.
We are having Chuck and Tina over for Welsh Rarebit and scones with clotted cream. Welsh Rarebit is a small piece of genius. Cheese sauce broiled on toast... what's not to like?
Clotted cream and scones - yummy!!! I have the best, fool-proof scone recipe of all time that I am willing to share. I've been reading your blog for about a year now but don't think I've ever left a comment. You help me get my Rochester fix (we moved away 6 years ago). Do I ever miss Wegmans!
ReplyDeleteStouffers actually makes a welsh rarebit that is pretty good if you can find it. I can't find it Denver, but Wegman's might have it. It's not as good as a homemade version of course, but it will cure a craving.
ReplyDeleteSounds yummy. Chuck and Tina? I want to know when you're having Michael and Toni over for Welsh Rarebit! ;)
ReplyDeleteBTW, the Michael and Toni comment was courtesy of disneymike. LOL
ReplyDeleteI found this same clotted cream at a little tea shop in Biltmore Village, Asheville, NC. Its lovely - I bought it for my anglophile mom-in-law.
ReplyDeleteThat's it! I'm going to Wegs for afternoon tea fixins as soon as we shake this snow. And HobNobs! I need more HobNobs!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had fun over the pond!
gotta love toast :)
ReplyDeletethe clotted cream with strawberries sound fabulous. mm.
ljc, thanks so much for letting me know about the clotted cream at Wegman's. Is it in a special section for UK delight deprived people?
