Ok, I am going to go a little design nerd on you. This is about browsers. What a history I have with internet browsers! I started off years ago with Netscape Navigator, completely shunning Internet Exploder... there was a little stint with Safari when I went to OSX, then I switched to open source Mozilla. In between I had brief affairs with Opera and Konqueror too.

And now.. now it's Firefox. Yes, it has the tabbed browsing and built in Google. But I must say it was the super cute icon designs that got me. I am enamoured with the nifty Firefox icon and the email app, Thunderbird icon. It's everything I would expect from a group that can create something like Bugzilla that actually includes a bug in it's design. Cute. God bless.

  1. Interesting. I have tried the latest Firefox on Mac OS X, and although I think it's decent, it's just not as fast, slick, or... well... Mac-like as Safari. I certainly think it's a great browser though, and I definitely recommend it for systems that don't have access to Safari. But Safari's better on Mac OS X IMHO. Actually, in second place I would say is Camino, which is built from much of the same technology as Firefox, but has a more Mac-like interface and is speedier on the Mac since it's a Mac-only app.

  2. I have to agree with Peter that Safari is the best browser for Mac OS X and my browser of choice. But for Windows XP Pro that I use at work, Firefox is definitely my browser of choice as I mentioned in a previous post. I heartily agree that the Firefox icon is very cool indeed. Oh, and don't feel bad, because I've used pretty much all the browsers you mentioned, so you're not the only person who geeks out. LOL

  3. be careful when using Thunderbird ljc!! I set myself and my fiance up with it, and it completely erased our inbox's and we lost everything!

  5. I actually have had better luck with Firefox on OSX Panther. Safari just hasn't done it for me.

  6. I just installed Firefox, even picked out a fun pink paw print theme, but I can't figure out how to get the tabs!
Otherwise, I'm quite excited about it.

  7. Kathryn, select "New Tab" from the File menu to create a new tab. The shortcut is Command-T on the Mac or Control-T on PCs.
