Hey, my dog Waldo used to do that when he was younger! He would stand, sit, or lay there. He wasn't watching us though. More like proudly proclaiming I'm the boss of you look how high I am!
Haha, the breeder I'm getting my pug puppy from on Saturday has a black pug that does that. She perches just above her shoulders on the chair. Heehehe! ~Laserone http://apugslife.blogspot.com
Ike and Kea both sit up on the backs of the sofa and chairs. It's so weird. And when we go to bed at night they'll come run up and lay on our heads. It's like they play king of the mountain all the time.
Hi there! Stumbled across your blog and am loving it! You are so damn crafty it makes me sick...well, more jealous than sick. :) I read your "abnut me" section and it's kinda' freaky the number of things we have in common. I'll be back for sure!
oscar does that because he wants to feel dominate. dogs try to climb on things to be as high as they can. if they sit higher than you, they think they are in charge. it's actually quite complex.
Virtually every small dog I've known has had a tendency to 'perch'. The likelihood seems to increase with the dog's clumsiness (that is, how likely they are to constantly fall over when trying to climb up something!). :)

ReplyDeleteAhh Oscar the protective watch dog. Love the new Halloween banner.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of a description of Snoopy Vulture...have you seen him as such? I used to have a poster, but no longer. Wonder if I can find a picture?

ReplyDeleteObviously "abnut me" was supposed to read "about me". Struck me as funny though... 'cause I am a nut for some fine washboard abs.
ReplyDeletei just wanted to say i think your halloween banner is awesome! :-)

ReplyDeleteIs it possible Oscar has stumbled on Catster? Benny loves to hang out on the back & arms of chairs, watching the people go by.

ReplyDeleteTwo of my four pugs perch up on the couch or chair like that. I call them goats. They also like to pull paper out of the trash and shred it.
ReplyDeleteThe banner is cute and, of course, so is Mr. Oscar. You make living with a dog look so fun!
