Someone at work left private screening tickets to see Danny Deckchair in the kitchen. I was pretty eager to see it, remembering that it was the closing film last year at the Toronto Film Festival. Aaron and I went and it was great. The lead character is that grody roommate in Notting Hill. It was very funny yet had a warm fuzzy ending.
I wish I could get screening tickets all the time. Is there a list or something one can get on?
when i lived in ny i was approached on the street to go to a miramax test screening, and once i was on the list, i'd be notified if there were any new screenings coming up - that might be different, though, because these films were kinda incomplete - temporary soundtracks, test endings...still, maybe you could ask to speak to someone at the screening itself. it couldn't hurt!

I work at a museum and we get free tickets to the circus, concerts, screenings of movies, Ice Capades, etc. all of the time. (They usually come with VIP parking and entrance to a VIP reception, too.) The trick is this- have your PR person hobnob with other PR persons in said venues. That's the only way we get them. Granted, the concerts aren't top of the line shows and the few tickets we get to the circus are gone in a heartbeat, but hey, it's fun- especially if it's free!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the preview for that movie, I thought "gosh I just have to see that!" It really looks like a cute movie. I'm so behind on movies I want to see! I've just been so busy.

Our local Landmark theater has an email list I signed up for and, every now and again, I'm offered screening tickets. Incidentally, the last time it was for Danny Deckchair...but I had already made plans for that evening. Hoping to see it soon.
