I have a lot of experience with making mass quantities of grilled cheese sandwiches. Occasionally my office activities team has bought a dozen loaves of bread, two blocks of cheese slices and four tubs of whipped butter, busted out the skriddles and made sandwiches for the whole group. We get funny looks in the grocery line. (on cereal day too, but that's a different story)
I had to think for a bit to come up with a cool recipe for this Grilled Cheese Sandwich Contest. My entry ended up being a Macaroni and Grilled Cheese Sandwhich recipe. It is as follows. Ingredients: macaroni and cheese, two slices of bread, butter, two slices of American Cheese and some grated parmesean cheese. Make a batch of your favorite macaroni and cheese. Boxed versions are fine. Butter two slices of bread. On one slice add two slices of American cheese. On top of that add spoonfuls of mac and cheese. Sprinkle some grated parmesean on the mac and cheese, add the other slice of bread. Grill the sandwich and enjoy!
eww.

ReplyDeleteA carb lover's dream sandwich... I hope you WIN!
ReplyDeleteI like to put thinly sliced apples in my grilled cheese sandwiches. This is paticularly yummy if you use raisin or apple or cinnamon bread. Yum!
ReplyDeleteOh, man, grilled cheese *and* macaroni and cheese...you've just taken my two most favoritest comfort foods and created a masterpiece of comfort food. Hm, do you think we could have mashed potatoes on the side, and maybe brownies for desert?

ReplyDeleteMy favourite is grilled cheese and bologna. With, of course, ketchup for dipping.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I'm going home and having that for supper.
Mmmm... that sounds good. I make my grilled cheese with some spicy polish mustard on the both sides of the bread and some thinly sliced tomatoes. I know what I'm having for dinner tonight...
ReplyDeleteI'm THISCLOSE to getting a blogger account so I can stop posting anonymously. Anyhoo, your sandwich reminded me of Alton's Brown's stoner delight called Next Day Mac & Cheese "Toast." The darkest of all that is evil (and delicious). I've never tried it but I'm way too close for comfort.

ReplyDeleteOn the Down in the Backpack CD by Bill Harley there's a song about a kid who won't eat anything but macaroni and cheese. One of the lines is about how he wouldn't even eat a macaroni and cheese sandwich.
