If anyone thought I am breathing a sigh of the relief and relaxing now that the wedding is over... wrong. Since we had the wedding out of town, and there were quite a few friends that couldn't make it, we decided to have a post wedding party here in Rochester.

We are having Sticky Lips BBQ cater our party on the rooftop garden of Artisian Works. I am getting another wedding cake of course, and planned on putting the bride and groom pez dispensers on top... which gave me an idea for the party's theme. Candy. Like the Martha Stewart candy wedding cakes in her summer 2003 Wedding's issue, I have wedding conversation hearts for on the cake. I ordered a bunch of pez dispensers to stand around the wedding cake and look at it adoringly. They will have tags on that say "Married life... how sweet it is!".

I am also making personalized labels for lifesaver rolls and hershey chocolates to sit around with other candies. I ordered M&M's with our names on too. Everyone is going to be sugared up at the party!

  1. Oh wow! I can't even imagine planning another wedding celebration here in Seattle after the one in Honolulu. In fact, just thinking about it at this point makes me feel exhausted. It must be all the candy sugar that is keeping you going!

  6. WOW - I love your candy theme!! What a great idea. My favorite BBQ in rochester was always Dinosaur(but then again it was also the only BBQ in Rochester that I ever had) LOL! Now I have the cookbook and I attempt to make it myself...

  7. I love that idea! We both love M&Ms too! Did you do both (that & the candy hearts) from the same place? I will definitely keep that in mind for our reception!

  10. I made these "paper cakes". They're not candy - but you can fill them with candy - just as yummy!

  12. Admit it - you really wanted both themes anyway:). No shame and you're pulling it off. I love it. Besides, I know you're paying out the wazoo for those M&Ms. And now hersheys is making the wrappers different. I hate em.

  13. All wonderful ideas! I'm so happy that you're making it YOUR wedding. Too often, people are held down by tradition and their family's opinion...it's nice to be creative and free!
    Much happiness to you both.
